How to upzip 7z file in RedHat Linux?


Hi,

I use RedHat. I got a 7z file. How can I unzip it? Should install a programm first?

You have to install p7zip, if not already installed. The command to extract 7z archives is 7za.

Thanks for the info.

I've downloaded the p7zip. But I couldn't find the document for installing it in RedHat linux. What I want to know it where should I install the p7zip. Do you have one?

You don't say which version of Red Hat you're using. It could be any of the Fedoras, the older Red Hat desktop versions or Red Hat Enterprise Linux?

I would try this from a root shell though:

yum install p7zip
I assume you downloaded the package from their website, if the above completes ok you can delete that package you downloaded separately.
