never a .10
after the red hat name change from RH9 to RHEL3
the numbering is like this
3.0,3.1,3.2,... to 3.9
4.0,4.1,4.2 ... to 4.9
5.0,5.1,5.2 .. to 5.9
6.0,6.1,6.2,6.3,and now 6.4 ( to be continued to RHEL 6.9

but by about rhel6.5 rhel 7.0 should be out

redhat will keep a install at a minor version ( for a price), but NOT CentOS
CentOS only supports the current minor version ONLY
so with CentOS 5.9 ( the last minor upgrade ) that will be for the rest of the RHEL 5.9 production 3 support
https://access.redhat.com/support/po...pdates/errata/

i use ScientificLinux ( created from the red hat RHEL code but developed by CERN and Fermi Lab)
they do have "security updates" for older minor versions

one can not expect a lab to upgrade a OS during a experiment run that might take years .
