First, RHEL 5 is obsolete
Second, it's a good idea to install SW using the package manager if at all possible.

If you are not subscribed (paying) for RHEL / RedHat network, then better to use something like CentOS (free clone of RHEL) or Fedora.

To install the downloaded SW, first extract the archive using "tar -xjvf <filename>". Then open the resulting folder and look for a README, install script, etc. There are various conventions for installing "off distro" SW---I've always used the /opt directory.

# yum install firefox

.. will install firefox-10.0.7-1.el5,
which is the latest official RHEL5 package for firefox.

a)untar the file <tar.bz2)
tar -jxvf firefox.tar.bz2
b) cd firefox
c) ./firefox

You can make a link on your desktop

NB: I do not know whether rhel 5 supports ff 15.0
I have 10 for my rhel 5. If it works then cheers....!!!

arun.ee1988
from reading your other posts
is this RHEL5 install
the unpaid one that you are trying to run on a LAPTOP and get "telnet" running on ????

if so
install RHEL6.3
BUY THE REQUIRED support contract!!!!!!!
or

install CentOS 6.3

If you have a paid subscription, it's as easy as opening firefox>>Help>>About Firefox if there's an update there will be an icon to update.
It may or may not happen if your system is unsupported.

that is not in the Ancient Firefox 1.5
and the old rhel5.0 might not be able to use ff15

Like the rest told the OP: just untar the tarball. And if the OP has SElinux enabled just set textreloc on libxul.so. That's about it.
