how to unzip a zip folder in redhat linux


Hello every one...


What is the commmand to unzip a .zip folder (collection.zip) in redhat linux v.5 .

Thanks in advance..

Did you try the command "unzip" ?

next time you need to figure out a command try using 'apropos' it will output on your screen some possible commands that might help you.

ziptool              (1)  - Tool for IOMega JAZ and ZIP drives


does not work all the time, but it's a start to helping yourself

according to the man page,

man unzip
a simple
Code:
unzip collection.zip
should do the trick.
However, that would unzip all the files into the current directory, which may not be what you want.
Maybe create a directory first and then unzip:

mkdir collection
unzip collection.zip -d collection
