Can you show us how the system responded to each of these commands. Were there error messages? Did aptitude/apt-get tell you it was removing these packages?

You can try running these command from a terminal (using sudo)
Code:
apt-get clean
rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/*
rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/partial/*
apt-get clean
Then try
Code:
sudo apt-get purge ns-allinone-2.35
If there are any errors, post them.

I'm confused. From the way you describe it, this does not sound like a package. You'll have to delete the folder it was installed in. If it's not a package and not installed using a package manager, apt-get, aptitude or dpkg then using those methods won't get rid of it.
