If you know the name of the Google chrome binary you can do something like this:

Code:
dpkg -S $(which googlechrome)
apt-get remove somepackage
dpkg -S will search for packages that contain the location. This is similar to rpm -q --whatprovides on RPM based distros.

It lets you know what package owns the file you want to remove.

From my system:
Code:
$ apt-cache search google-chrome
google-chrome-beta - The web browser from Google
google-chrome-stable - The web browser from Google
google-chrome-unstable - The web browser from Google
So, as above, you need to know the name of the package. That is, of course, assuming you installed the .deb package and not something else?

Yeah, that was going to be my recommendation to do an apt-cache search for it.

Another thing to consider is that you don't seem to recall exactly what you installed. Did you run the graphical package manager? You can run that and search for chrome and you'll also see what is installed on your system and then have the option to un-install it.

Ultimately what do you want to do? To get Chrome installed and working? To get "a" browser installed and working? What distribution and version are you running?
