How to understand question: The /home should be expanded to take 500MB total space

Hi there,

I am testing LVM. I ve got the questions from book.
But I do not understand the question clearly.

Question: You have just been assigned to administer a freshly installed server - serverX. Management would like some adjustments made to the disk allocation according to the following specifications:
- The /home file system is too small and should be expanded to take 500MB total space.

My Question is: What do I have to do?
I will copy all files to some other directory (for example: /var). And make physical volumes, volume groups and logical volumes. Format it with ext4. Then mount it to /home. And copy the particular files (which are copied from previous /home dir) from /var dir.

Is it like that or something else?

well it depends what the starting point is. If /home is already on its own LV, which I'd guess it is, then you would make the existing filesystem and LV larger, no migration of anything.
