how to turn off services

i recently re-installed FC3 and during startup it starts up services such as FTP and CUPS and what not! There's a lot on that list that i don't use-so i was wondering how do i stop them from starting by default at startup??

-Thanks!

use the chkconfig command for it.. check the manpage for the options you can use.

Or you could rename the links in the /etc/rc.d

rc3.d DIR = runlevel 3 folder and so on... In side the folders are links to services. If it cant find the link it will not run the service. Also remember to mess around with the init.d DIR too.

this is what the chkconfig command does.
