How to tell who or what restarted a server

Is there any way to tell who or what process rebooted a RHEL server?

Somehow one of my boxes got restarted this morning, i'm trying to figure out who/what did it.

You can try examining your 'messages' files in /var/log. Maybe someone invoked an 'su' or 'sudo' command. Or, you could check all user's ~/.bash_history files for command history to see if they tried a shutdown. Maybe someone did a shutdown over ssh (ssh machine sudo shutdown -r now) or something. That's all I can think of at the moment.
