How to start without the startup disk
I've got this old linux box with RH6 and it only starts with the start up disk.
What can I do to be able to start the system without using the start up disk?:study: |
Has it got lilo or grub installed?
Try which lilo and which grub on the command-line as root. Cheers, Tink |

What shall I do after the Which grub?
Because I'm not online in linux but in WIN. I cannot manage to configure my internet connection in linux. I cannot get my modem to work. So you see, I need to get all the info I can get without being back and fro, booting on linux and booting on WIN time and time again and again. Thanks for the help. |
I'm not familiar with grub ... what you'll need
to do is to build a /etc/grub.conf that tells grub to install itself in the MBR of your HDD... That way you won't need the boot-disk anymore. Cheers, Tink |
OK, I see what you mean.
