How to start Mozilla from the command line

I have set up RedHat 9 as a server and administer it from the command line. I want to open Mozilla. How can I do that from the command line?

Thanks in advance.

Unless you have X installed, you can't run mozilla from the command line.

If your running a terminal while in X, you can run it by typing:

mozilla &

If your looking for command line type browsers, look into links or lynx.

Regards.

I have X installed but when I enter "mozilla &" it still does not open.

Type

$ whereis mozilla

and press enter. that will tell you what to enter.

When I typed that in it came back with:

mozilla: /usr/bin/mozilla /usr/lib/mozilla
[1]+ Exit 1 mozilla

I went to both of those locations and tried to enter "mozilla &" to no avail

I figured it out. I started X first then typed in "mozilla &" and it worked. Thanks for the replies.

Actually, typing /usr/bin/mozilla at the command line would prolly work too.

Like I said basically in my first reply, you have to have X installed and or also "running".. sorry I didn't mention is has to be running as well, thought you'd figure that one out as its an X application.. as I mentioned to run the command from a terminal in X, not from a command line only..

With Mozilla browser can't login on forum

Yesterday I installed Slackware 9.1. Everything went fine.
Tried to login on www.slackware.org (desktop GNOME, browser Mozilla)
No response at all! Am I missing something? Also other forums refused
to let me in using my login codes. Is this a security matter I'm not
aware of? I have a DSL connection never causing me problems.
I switched to my MS machine and then I could login.
Where can I find a solution?

I'm so new that I can't start a new threat, so I hope this threat will suit my question.

Arix

Open a terminal, and type 'ping www.slackware.com' (or some other site). If that doesn't work properly, then your internet isn't set up properly.

Hei aaa,

Thanks for your response.
Ping is working well. I can browse through a site like www.linuxquestions.org
The problem is that when I want to log in by typing my username and
password nothing is happening. No response at all! Like something is blocking the communication between my system and linuxquestions.org
It's not a problem only with linuxquestions.org, but also with other sites where you have to log in. I hope that someone has an idea where a can find a solution. I've tried to find documentation about Mozilla but could not find what I was looking for.

Arix

Try it with another browser.

Thank you, aaa

Galeon is working fine. Nevertheless I will continue to find the reason why Mozilla lets me down.
As soon as I know the reason, maybe connected with the installation parametrs of Slackware, I'll
inform this forum.

Arix
