how to start graphical environment at boot. systemv

gday. last night I installed debian without the graphical environment and have since installed a desktop environment and xorg. i cannot boot the x server into xfce, but I would like it to boot automatically into the GUI login manager like it normal. I've had experience with slackware, where I could accomplish this be editing /etc/inittab, but I have very little knowledge on init scripts and don't know how to do this with systemv, in debian.

Debian always boots to runlevel 2, so editing inittab would be of no use. Have you actually installed a login manager, like XDM or GDM? XFCE doesn't come with one by default, IIRC.

TobiSGD said IIRC, not IRC. IIRC is 'if I recall correctly'.
