how to start gparted?

I'm using centos 6.5 64 bit and I discovered by trial and error that yum install gparted installs a rather weak version of garted (v0.3...), it can do sod-all with a difficult drive, however version 0.19 (from the live cd) works much better, so I downloaded and installed the source code for gparted 0.19 but I can't work out how to start gparted in centos 6. I've tried so far:

# gparted
-bash: gparted: command not found

# /etc/init.d/gparted start
-bash: /etc/init.d/gparted: No such file or directory

# /usr/bin/gparted
-bash: /usr/bin/gparted: No such file or directory

# /usr/sbin/gparted
-bash: /usr/sbin/gparted: No such file or directory

the gparted manual says is should start from the command 'gparted' but it doesn't work for me. Any ideas?

If you have the version you want on a Live CD, use that. Have you compiled the source code after downloading it?

Gparted is of little use when installed into your OS.

The safe choice is to use the Gparted live CD :
