how to solve oops message problem


Hi all,
I need urgent help on kernel oops message. Can anybody
tell me how can i debug oops message with help of 2 computers
connected with crossover cable? Problem is that i am getting
repeatedly oops message with EIP as c02d1ebc

well...did you recently compile a new kernel for that pc. ?

I have RH9 with its default kernel 2.4.20-8. And i compile a new kernel 2.4.24 with minimum options in make menuconfig on 2 pcs connected via crossover wire. When i boot both pcs either one starting first got oops when other pc try to bring eth0 up. What is the problem?

when you copied the new kernel to , say " /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.24 ",
did you also copy the System.map to " /boot/System.map-2.4.24 " ?

When you do make install everything is copied by kernel to /boot. Files you mention are copied to /boot when you did last thing in kernel compilation that is
make install
I have check that thing by comparing their time and dates.
