Angry How to set up the wireless with Kubuntu in a laptop

I have ATT internet and have wifi at my desktop. I have used the signal at other times. Now I have a Laptop that I installed Kubuntu 12.40 but see the connection name (Edna1)but lost the icons in the bottom status bar where I was trying to setup the Wireless. (My friend that got me into Linux several years ago (Robbie Graham) died a month ago. He was the guru that helped me but now have to turn to Linun Questions. Thank you.

Hi reb68,

That's hard, Im'sorry.

You may try hitting Alt+F12 to get the Krunner window, then issue "gnome-panel" (without quotes)

And about the wireless, when you get the bottom menu bar you will find a icon that looks like an ethernet port, click it and you should see the wireless networks.

Another option if you have your SSID hidden is to use the same icon and go to manage connections (or edit connections?) I have no mi KDE rigth now but is something like that
