If the modem is serial:
Open kppp. Click "Setup". Click the device tab. Choose a device (/dev/ttys0, /dev/ttys1, /dev/modem). Then click the modem tab, and click on the "Query Modem" button. If it says "Modem does not respond", choose another device. Then use kppp to connect.

If you are talking about x window i did all of that. But when i do queary modem it dos't say that there is a eror or something it says that i conected to the modem but when the report comes out all of the lines are empty. And when i trie to conect to my provider it dosnt do squat. The modem just sits there and still no error no nothing just siting there. It says nitializing modem and that is it nothing hapens after that. It just sits there
