How to set up a 8 node Linux Cluster for numerical computing ?

Hi Members

I would like to set up a 8/12 Node cluster mainly for numerical calculations, especially numerical solution of
non linear partial Differential equations .I plan to use the SAGE mathematical environment for computation .What is the best OS for such a cluster ,i have used Fedora ,Ubuntu and Puppy Distros .How can we set up a cluster of 8-12 Machines

Hi.

New boxes have a lot of processors, so that might be a useful start. Virtual machines might give you a head-start on software selection and organization without the expense of acquiring hardware.

I have not done this, but I'd start at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beowulf_(computing) and follow links therein. A Google search is always recommended ... cheers, makyo
