i have not used linux and is not with this. has worked in windows platform till now. But fed up with the virus attack every now and then. can somebody tell me that if linux is free of virus. hau to start. initially iwant to load suse 1.1 on my pc at home.some of my friend has told me to do so. this month chip dvd is having the live image of open suse1.1. if the same will be enough to load on my system as 2nd O/S. iam already having winxp inc -drive . D drive is having almost 6 gb space.pl guide me

Second...please write and spell clearly. It's almost impossible to understand what you're asking.


If you're asking "How do I load Linux on my PC", put the CD/DVD in the drive, boot from it, and follow the instructions. Does Linux have viruses? Not in the same sense Windows does, but there are vulnerabilities, but they're dealt with much more quickly than Windows, and (unless you run as root all the time), cause little damage.

We appreciate that English is not your first language. If you at least put spaces between sentences and start each sentence with a capital letter, it will make a big difference.

Do you already have a Linux CD or DVD? If so, simply put in the Optical drive and boot up. If it is a "Live Linux", then you will be put in a running system which will hava an installer.

Note that you need some space on the drive which is empty (i.e. unpartitioned). This is not the same as empty space on a partition. (Note that Windows uses the term "Drive" to refer to a partition.
