how to see the files in a archieved file


I have an ear archieve and war archieve

I know there is a file X in ear archieve.....i want to see that .

how do i see it ? whats the command i should type ?



similarly, i have a file Y in the war archieve ...how do i see it ?


AIX Operating system.

hi, u can see all the files in an archive by running the relevant command.

For tar archives use this command

tar -t foo.bar

it will list all the files in the archive

hi , you are mistaken .......its not tar but ear and war
