Unhappy How to scan for new devices ?

I want to add a second HDD and a second CD-ROM drive, how to check them ?

for Mandrake 9.1, and Knoppix .. ?

if you install them correctly, they should show up in bios.

if that works out, it is simply a matter of mounting them.
