When I change the display resolution and refresh rate in system settings, those values will be reset to default every time I restart the computer.
Is there a way to save the values, so that I don't have to change them again every time?
I use Kubuntu 10.4.

Another problem I have is that when I choose Leave / Sleep (Suspend to RAM), the computer will sometimes be locked, so that it never wakes up again. I can hear when this occurs, because then the cooling fan(s) will stay on.
Normally, when Sleep works, the fans are turned off, because the computer goes into energy saving mode.
i noticed the occasional sleep problem already in Kubuntu 9.10.

Try running display setting as root. That should make them stick. Suspend to ram does not always work, but if it doesn't, hibernate usually does. And desktop power saving doesn't work as well as laptop power saving.

I think I have root privilegies. How can I make sure that I run the program as root?

Actually I found another thread with an answer:
It says that the file xorg.conf is empty (or non-existing?).
