How to save DDOS log

Hello guys.

I want to ask how I can save a DDOS log on a Linux machine.
I see that I can block ip's from iptables but when i get a ddos my server goes down and I can't open iptraf to see where come the DDoS from

PS: My sever is an dedicated Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS, so I don't need just an web server firewall, I have more that one server..like cs, shoutcast, ircd..

Try looking at syslog-ng. You can log to a separate machine within your network, examine logs which made it out before the network is too clogged.

http://web.suffieldacademy.org/ils/n...ftware/syslog/

There are lots of howto's on syslog-ng.
