how to run "gaim-devel" rpm after installing
 

Hello all,
working on redhat 8.

just now i downloaded "gaim-devel-1-0.74-1rh8.i386.rpm"
installed it using......."rpm -ivh gaim-devel-1.............rpm"
.........
but as happens with non devel rpm packages ( generally the program starts running)........when i'm just writing "gaim" on the prompt..
giving error and saying "command not found"
How am i suppose to run "gaim" then...?

what do u mean by nothing is happeneing

do u get a msg like "command not found"

also why don't u try to compile the gaim from source???

u did not post earlier that u get a "command not found msg"

are u tryning to install gaim-devel without installing the gaim package

rpm -ivh gaim-devel.........." ..............and nothing else...

so what i was asking is that did u install the gaim package with the same version as that gaim-devel package

i tried with.......
1>gaim-1.1.2.tar.gz
2>gaim-1.0.2.tar.bz2
3>gaim-1.1.2-0fc1.i386.rpm
4>gaim-1.1.2-0rh9.i386.rpm

i dont' have more other wise i would have tried that to... :-)

u have another thread running
where u have some problem wth compiling gaim

there too i have recommended that go for a full install
