How to restore the desktop
Dear All,
When i was working in Redhat linux 5 my system got shutdown. At that time onwards when ever i am logging in to the system automatically its loading all the applications whichever were open. How to resolve this issue.. |
Hi,
I'm assuming that he the "issue" is that you don't what these things automatically started each time you log in. If so, next time you log out, first make sure you close all programs, then navigate the menus (I can't say exactly where since I'm not in front of a gnome 2 desktop), and "save" the session, alternatively look for the list of autostart programs and remove the ones you don't want. Dear evo2,
Finally i got the option(Session) from the log in screen itself there i am getting five option in my root user log in in that by default the option "restore last session" is selected and i changed the option to "start with Gnome default" even though it's starting with the Last session. But in other users log in it's logging with normal Gnome desktop. |
Hi,
great, it sounds like you found the correct things to configure. Is this problem resolved now? Evo2. |
No, Still loading with the last session only i have changed the option after that i logged with root user again it is loading with last session then i closed all the application and restarted the machine but the same option(Restore last session) was selected in the session... Could you please tell me how to make my changes in the session as a permanent one.???

Hi,
sorry as I said I don't have access to a machine running gnome 2 at the moment, so I can't try it for myself. It should be pretty straight forward though. Evo2. |
