how to reset username and password on kubuntu system
 
My daughters boyfriend reset username and password on my computer before they broke up and refuses to give me information to log onto my computer,can not reboot and do not want to lose data on hard drive, is their any way to get around a clean reboot ?

Why can you not reboot?
The usual way to reset your password in the Ubuntu family is to reboot and press escape just after the BIOS screen to bring up GRUB so you can select recovery mode. This logs you in as root so you can simply reset your password with:
Code:
passwd username
Where username is the name of your account.
