How to remove access ACL set on 'others' in RHEL 6


I have set an acces ACl on others on /database directory as follows :

setfacl -m o::rwx /database

now i cant remove this ACL entry set on others on /database directory. please help

  • What software are you talking about?
  • What version/distro of Linux?
  • What is your goal/what are you trying to accomplish?

sorry, since this is a linux blog, i thought its obvious that people will talk about linux or unix flavour.
however i am talking about RHEL6, please post with absolute steps

Right, it is about Linux and Unix.

However, that doesn't mean we automatically KNOW about what version/distro you're using, or WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. There are/can be ACL's for Squid, SSH, Telnet, FTP, and MANY other programs....ALL of which are set up differently.

So, again: WHAT ACL? And, since you're using RHEL6, have you contacted Red Hat support, since you're paying for RHEL, right?

I am just a student, using a downloaded version. I am talking about Access control list in RHEL 6

Getting better...

What command have you tried to 'remove' the facl?

getfacl /database
setfacl -m other:--- /database
getfacl /database

that will simply overwrite the other acl entry done by me and thus remove the entry in turn ...isnt it!?
