Did you get the message after the find step?
Code:
find /boot/grub/stage1
Do you know which order the partitions are on the drive? (if you do, you may be able to skip the find step)

Post some information on your hardware, drive types etc.
Use your Mint CD and get partition information to post here: sudo fdisk -l (is the command to use)

This should tell us the partition Mint is on and what other partitions you have.
