How to prevent words from breaking up in the terminal

Hi. This is my first question here

I am a beginner C programmer. I use GCC to compile my programs. I am using Ubuntu 11.10

Whenever a line in the program gets longer than the terminal width, the last word break up. For example: "How are you today?" becomes "How are yo <next line> u today?" Same thing happens with numbers. Is there a way I can configure the terminal not to break words like that and just take the whole word to the next line? I am new to Linux so please explain in an easy way

Thanks. Cheers.

Maybe changing the size of the terminal will help. My original post is old enough, but read the comments too; http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...rminal-743155/
