how to plugin mozilla shockwave player?

i seem to be in the technician's "ground rule zero:" the user always lies.
not having kept notes on all changes i've made makes me (the user) a liar. this said, i should also note that i know just enough (minimal unix/sun/solaris courses in 2001) to make me mad. i've installed the redhat 9 on my dell latitude CPi A (shrike on a i686).
using mozilla on the kde as shipped with the ditstro, every shockwave item displays as a puzzle-piece placeholder that tells me i need the shockwave/x-application plugin.
using konqueror web browser, three (or four) times i download (dial-up modem) from the linux users place on the macromedia site.
every download event has been interrupted (i forget the exact term in the messages). the transfer rate declined rapidly from 4.7kb/per, to 2.xkb/per,to 0....
i think the transfer was almost complete each time, and each time the 'forgotten-exact-term-in-message' displayed in the download manager just before 'finished.'
i got another 'forgotten-exact-term-in-message' when attempting to unpack the file(s) with konqueror and in a terminal. is it terminal, doc?
i've read jeremy's article on playing dvd's & videos. some insight gleaned. thank you.
i did not read much on the linux users place on the macromedia site. more in(hind)sight (my bad). i have kept one download (file:.../konquerorAdz2Ra).
i'm not real comfortable diddling the system files, though i do have a fresh, working bootdisk.
take me by the hand or shove my face in the proper direction, please.

why are you using konqueror to download the plugin for shockwave so it will work in mozilla? why don't u try downloading it again and post the error ?
