How to play mpg files using any player

I'm using fedora core 4. I have successfully mount the ntfs partition. But right now i cannot play mpg files. I've tried open mpg files using xmms but cannot. Any suggestions?

xmms does not play mpg files. What you want it xine, or MPlayer. If you are using KDE look in the Multimedia category in the Menu.

If you don't have xine or mplayer they would not be hard to install. They are probably on the CD's that you installed Linux from.

Try xine or mplayer and let us know if they work.

Good luck.

You could try as mplayer or xine (as earlier post mentions) or you could try vlc.

I suppose you know how to install software in Fedora (using yum). Try this as superuser (root)
For MPlayer,
Code:
yum install mplayer
or if you want vlc
Code:
yum install vlc
