How to play mp3 in fedora core 3??

i have tried xmms 1.2.10
did everything. just gave some error after make install.
it can't open any file or can't play mp3 files

what should i do now??

hi there
get ur slf either mp3 patch from xmms.org
or a new xmms-1.2.10 from xmms.org
since Fedora like RH does not support playback of MP3 songs due to some licensing issues
the xmms-1.2.10 rpm u get from xmms.org
copy that to some directory say /tmp
and then

cd /tmp

rpm -ivh --force xmms-1.2.10-i386.rpm

and start xmms again and it will work

Hi All

Yes Xmms Works but Audio I/O plug-in were the output plug-in is set to esound output plug-in must change to OSS Driver 1.2.10...

actually the problem was bit different. i was trying to installing from local host.

but u need to have root permissions for make install command.

If that's the case, you can install from source, because you can compile program and install in you home directory.
