How to play DVD+RW discs on Totem or VLC movie player.

I'm trying to playback my rewritable DVDs on the movie player. I have VLC and Mplayer and Totem and Gxine. The only ones that worked for a commercial movie was VLC and Mplayer. The Totem did not play any DVDs. The play buttons etc. were grayed(inoperable). I didn't try the Gxine with any type. I would really like to be able to play the rewritable DVDs in the VLC or Mplayer or Totem. If there is something I need to download further or configure, etc. I will try it right away. Thank you for your help, Mark

Try browsing the DVD to see what the file formats are. If you burned the DVD yourself, its possible you may have copied the iso image as a file instead of burning an image. A DVD formated disk should have files with *.vob extensions.
