how is it possible to partition an existing used partition on linux without formatting and rebooting , and make a new partition to use the free space in the orginal partition.
you can resize the existing partition to drop the empty space and turn what you save into a new partition, but you can't just directly divide a partition into multiple partitions. Any of the usual partitioning tools should be able to do this (cfdisk, gparted, etc).
