How to open terminal?

On my computer, an Acer E1-431 running Mint 13 Mate, I find that the keyboard shortcut control alt t will not open a terminal. Is there some other keyboard shortcut to open a terminal?

Hi,

Right click on the start button and goto 'Edit Applications'
Select System > Teminal(Konsole)
Click the advanced tab given on the right side, then click the button for shortcut key and type in Ctrl-Alt-t
save and exit.
It should work.

Does Alt F2 open a new window on your system?
If yes, then type there xterm and press Enter.
