Well no firewall enabled based on that info. If you use the nmap command or the gui frontend nmapfe and search 127.0.0.1 for open ports and no 1101 comes up then I would an issue with the Sebek application.

Without digging deep I'd say if an application is installed and not behaving as expected then it is not running.

It means it is not running (at least not under the name sebek).

A quick web search on my end indicates that the server is called sbk_extract. Try instead,
Code:
sudo lsof -c sbk_extract
It would be nice if you confirmed to us that the server is running (and if so, what the PIDs are).

Yes..sbk_extract the server is running on a differnt machine.

When i did "sudo lsof -c sbk_extract" i got a pid listed on the server machine (3459)

As u mentioned, probably sebek client is installed but not running.

I have no idea how to start it. If anybody had any suggestions, please share.

Thanks

Now I thoroughly donít understand what you are trying to accomplish. I thought the original question was to confirm that the server was running and listening on UDP port 1101.

Okay. What else was in the output? What is the output of
Code:
sudo netstat -aunp
on the SERVER machine?

We are trying to develop sebek in a similar environment, but we haven't been able to compile and install the sebek module. Could you please detail how did you do this? We can compile if we disable the af_packet.c modifications but can't install the module.

Thanks in advance.
