how to move centos to new hard drive?

How to move centos to new hard drive?

I've a hard drive installed Cetnos 5.6 x64, and I want to move this Centos to new hard drive.

Is there a program to move cenots?
Or how to move CEnots to new drive?

If could not move Centos, how to move system settings and progrmas and data?

Any helpful comment would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Are the two hard drives the same size? You can get by with dd. Be careful, dd is a powerful command. I asked this question a while ago and this was the general consensus. dd will create an exact replica, bit by bit. If the new hard drive is larger it will be formatted to have identical partitions as the old, and you will not be able to use the extra space. I hope this helps.

thezerodragon/ Thanks.

But my new hard drive is smaller than old one. I should move centos for old hard disk's problem.

maybe you can change the partition size so the old install is the same size as the new hard drive. Then dd or other similar utilities will help you.

Clonezilla-live-cd works also like thezerodragon said you would have to shrink the partitions also.

+1 Clonezilla
Tested and work fine (backup/restore).
