How to mount my CD/DVD drives

I have FC-5 and use KDE. My D drive I think is /dev/hdc and my E drive I think is /dev/hdd.

In Windows if I want to see the files on a CD/DVD I just go into Explorer or MY Computer and look. I just put the disk in the drive and look.

Can anything like that be done in Linux?

Thanks,

royeo

Since you said you are using KDE there is under the control panel somewhere an option to show mounted devices on your desktop as icons, so I guess if you were to put a cd or dvd in there you could just clicky the icon and see whatever just like using exploder.

hope that helps

Recent versions of KDE (since 3.5?) have a system:/ IOslave with is sort of similar to "My Computer" in Windows. Just type "system:/" in the Konqueror address bar to get there. From there, you should be able to access your drives under the "Storage Media" icon. Note that CD and DVD drives will only be shown if they have a disk in them.
