How to mount CDROM and Thumbdrive


in mandrake/mandriva,
how to check the name of my flashdrive and CDROM, and then mount them?
i know using MOUNT /dev/***** <name>
but how to know the /dev/?

fdisk -l
to get a list of devices currently attached. The most telling output of that command is the size and device name. Devices that start with "hd" are generally IDE hard drives, devices that start with sd are SCSI devices (USB -> Thumb Drive). Your sizes probably won't be the same, though, so you should tell right away which is which.

you will also have to indicate the file tsystem with the -t option unless it has already been specified in the corresponding fstab entry.

Not necessarily, I never specify the filesystem for my MP3 player or digital camera, and they don't have fstab entires. I thought you only had to specify when the filesystem wasn't recognized.
