How to modprobe?

I have a little problem... I have searched posts on how to shutdown a computer with Rh 8.0 and i come to realize i need apm modules support... so i tried modprobe apm but i getbash: modprobe: command not found ( i was under root off course)

so do i need to add a line to the $PATH environnement variable or i need t o add options to the kernel... if so how?

Thanks in advance

modprobe is in /sbin/ if you log in correctly as root it will be there.

i know, so /sbin won't be on your path, probably because yo're not suing properly. simply because you're in that directory won't affect wether it can find it or not, as the current directory is not searched, only the path variable. just use /sbin/modprobe
