Another simple question of a newbie Linux enthusiast:
To make life easier I usually create shortcuts on my desktop for all the applications that I install. Up till now I just right-clicked on the executable, dragged it outside konquerer and selected the 'link here' option. Everything works perfectly off course. Too bad all those shortcuts look the same (the icon of an executable).
Most of my progs are installed in /usr/bin/ (thanks for pointing that out to me!). I've noticed that icons for those progs are located in /usr/shared/ in their own directories.
Now, what I'd like to know is how do I replace those boring icons of my shortcuts by the icons that were provided in the tarball or rpm of my progs?
I've tried to 'edit filetype' by right-clicking on them in root mode, but then all my shortcuts get the same icon! There must be a way to individually change the icons right?
Hmmm, I think it should be the more or less the same procedure . Well, I unfortunately don't have KDE in this box, but someone will probably post it soon.
