How to modify modules.dep.bin within initrd in SuSE 11 with SP1

Can anybody tell me how to edit/create modules.dep.bin under initrd image. I actually want to insert a new module within the initrd image of suse 11 with sp1.

Edit /etc/sysconfig/kernel and add your module to INITRD_MODULES then run mkinitrd?

Actually I want to modify from knoppix or any other live cd.
