how to make ubuntu server 11.04 go to sleep when idle?

Hi all

I recently installed ubuntu server edition v11.04 in an old pc as a samba file server.

considering the power comsumption, I'd like to set up something to let server go to sleep mode when system is idle and wake it up when needed.

after researching, I found a lot articles about how to set upwake-on-lan from both BIOS and OS perspective. but there is no much about how to set up server to allow it go sleep when idle (no ssh connection, no file accessing).

please share some light,

thanks in advance,

Frank
