How to make my computer beep using terminal shell script?


I have a laptop running Ubuntu 10.04 and i want to make a shell script and I want a beep sound but I can't get one..

I tried this and i didn't hear any beep

did you install beep first? (beep is package not installed by default)

Make sure the pc speaker isn't blacklisted in
Code:
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

Might embed the ascii bell character and try it. I agree you have to have a pc speaker working.
