How to make a log to keep track internet connection?

I have a problem in my office that I am not able to access the internet sometime (but not all the time). When I go to any web site, it said the web site is not responding. My other co-workers don't experience the same problem. But when I checked the internet connection, it said my network card is connected to the server. So, I suspect my system admin block my internet connection (because we disputed for hours about some issue before). But I don't have any evidence. So I want to make a log and keep track the internect connected that I can show to my boss. (but, again, my network card is connected) We use Mandrake 9.0. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!!

running a script through cron or at that pings an external sites ip address once and appends the results to a logfile would problably do the trick..

man cron
man crontab
man crond
man at
man atd
man ping
