how to make a file thru the terminal?

OK, I need to make a menu.lst thru the term in Tinycore-2.0rc1, and I don't know the command?
To make a folder is "mkdir -p /such/an/such"
So, how would I do this?

If you just want to make an empty file, the touch command would do the trick:

touch /path/to/menu.lst

Otherwise just use a console text editor like nano or vi and save the file.

An extreemly useful thing is to use cat:

$ cat > /boot/grub/menu.lst <return>
Load of garbage you
want in

Use >> to append to an existing file.

You guys rock.
I'm trying to make Portable-Tinycore and having issues; tried to do install to portable vhd using this iso( 'cause the reg tinycore kernel locks up with bzImage...anyway, made a menu.lst with nano, tried to install grub to vhd hda1 and succeeded, but at boot up again kernel panic??

so, I got it going good using the iso to boot qemu but not bootable after install to hda1...but I'll get it,thanks!
