How to login to debian with root user?

Hello I have installed debian and when it starts the GNOME desktop manager shows up and I am unable to logon with my root user account..

How should I logon?

There is an Menu dropdown on the screen - With Session and Language Options

Under Session the options are: GNOME, GNOME Chooser,Debian, XSession, KDE, Failsafe Gnome, Failsafe xterm...

Can someone help me logon to this machine with the root username and password ?

When I logon with root username and password it says "The system administrator is not allowed to login from this screen"

while logged-in to your regular account in gnome (or whatever), open a terminal and issue the command "su", it'll prompt you for the root password... when you're done doing whatever you needed to be root to do, type "exit" or close the terminal...

don't ever log-in to gnome (or any other window manager) as root as it's very dangerous... logging-in to a window manager as root is one of the most common mistakes newbies make... i'm not surprised if debian disallows this by default, after all, debian is known for taking security VERY seriously...
