Whats the Operating System...Whats the theme: Gnome/KDE?...In case you are using Redhat/Gnome. Execute "#system-config-printer"...Give a suitable name...select "Networked CUPS"...Under "Server" section specify the IP address of the printer...Select appropriate printer...Finish the configuration setup...print the test page and let us know the outcome....

Hi, Yu Gi Oh. I use Fedora 8 and I connect to all of my campus's printers via IP. If you select Administration -> Printing and then select the "New Printer" button. You should have a list on the left that says "Select Connection". I select "LPD/LPR Host or Printer".

In the right side of the window, enter the ip address where it says "Hostname". When you select "Forward" it should try connecting to the printer and choosing a driver for it. For example, we have all HP printers so when I select "Forward" it selects the HP 4000 series driver.

If this doesn't happen, Fedora is not connecting to the printer or it doesn't have a driver for it. Try different connections if that doesn't work, but that's how we do it here.
