I would recommend using one of the many native Linux PDF readers rather than Adobe.
Bluntly put, Adobe reader is bloatware. And it has a history of vulnerabilities
(most of which aren't particularly dangerous in normal use, but it doesn't speak well for the craftsmanship of the coders). I won't even use it on Windows because of the bloat; I use Foxit.
The Gnome "Document Viewer" should already be on your machine.
My favorite Linux reader is Okular (used to be KPDF). It's in the Ubuntu repos and Synaptic will resolve the dependencies for you.
