how to install wine in ubuntu 9.1?


please tell me how can i install wine(that is windows platform for linux) in ubuntu 9.1.....

Welcome to LQ!!

I had thought that WINE was pre-installed in Ubuntu----regardless, it should be available using the package manager. (Look in your menus for Synaptic, Adept, or anything that talks about installing SW or apps.)

wine install using apt-get

use the command: 'apt-get install wine' to install it.

Nope -- I think that was a smart idea to not include it.

@OP:- You can use "sudo apt-get install wine", but this will present you with a pretty old version of wine. You may want a newer version of wine, in which case head on over the their website and download the .deb file and install it that way.

sudo bash
apt-get install wine
