Welcome Stewart!

The only way I know to "install windows within linux" is to use a virtualization software. I personally use VirtualBox:

BEcause it may result in a different answer...

IF I may ask, what is the point of this "install Windows within Mint Linux"?

a question about my post

I think the point is quite obvious; I want to know to install windows within linux mint 12. what part do you not understand? if you meant why do i want to do this, i thought forums were meant to share information and answers to questions not question the desired action. what i want to do with my computer is my business only.

I think you have totally misunderstood the question from Wpeckham, because, as he pointed out in his headline, installing Windows within Linux can be done with several solutions, which have different advantages and disadvantages.
So his question is legitimate and may lead to you getting better advice.

No need to overreact here.

@ alertcomputing

Here's a tip. By default, virtualbox uses the NAT adaptor and will give you an ip address of 10.x.x.x and you will have issues communicating with the host macnine, i.e mint. Instead choose Bridge Adapter from the Network settings and your guest, i.e windows will be in the same subnet as your host machine which will make things easier in communicating.

Second, when your windows has been installed, install the guest additions to enable other features of virtualbox.
